Seeing turtles in Oman is possible, and we don't talk about any type of turtle, if not various marine varieties that every year they come to spawn at their shores. For those who do not know Oman, it is difficult to think that such an event can happen on its shores, when it is common in continents such as Asia or America. But no, not only does this happen in Oman, but you have a high probability of being able to see them.
Where to see turtles in Oman
Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve
The east coast of Oman, the Al Dimaniyat islands and the Masira legislature are three of the best places to see sea turtles. Specifically, south of a town of the same name, South, there are several beaches where you can go see this show. One of those beaches is called Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve.
Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve is usually visited from the beautiful city of Sur, the city where we stay, since just over half an hour.
Visiting the reservation
The reserve is a park whose objective is to protect several beaches in the area of fishing and invasive tourism. It has a center where they explain the variety of turtles that arrive in the area to lay your eggs and a small hotel by the sea. From there every hour there are guided tours to see the show, something really incredible.
Harassment and demolition
It is true that the experience is a pass, but it makes you feel bad when you see the turtles in full effort surrounded by tourists. You can hear them breathing, you are so close that you can almost touch them and although the guide respects all park rulesIt is easy to think how bad these turtles may be going through. They are still laying eggs. A comparison would be in a delivery. Imagine an operating room with more than 20 people taking pictures.

Several kinds of turtles
Oman has five of the seven species of sea turtles in the world. The green turtle, which was what we saw is the most frequent on the beaches of Oman. There is also theStupid turtle which nests on the island of Masira, Dhofar and Daymaniyat. Another variety is the hawksbill turtle, theolive ridley turtle and the leatherback turtle which is found by the waters of Oman, but they do not nest in the sultanate.
