Circuit O - Stage 3. Dickson Shelter at Camp Dogs

After a long stage between Camp Serón and the Dickson Shelter, the next stage of Circuit O towards Camp the dogs was going to be much shorter, though, with more unevenness and much of the stage within a very closed forest . As it happened in the previous stage, the landscapes change again and we approach one of the most beautiful places of Circuit O, the Glacier the dogs, an ideal place to stop along the way.

Mexico. Adventure and ecotourism in Puerto Vallarta

The first time I heard about Puerto Vallarta I heard sun and beach. Extensions of turquoise sea, luxurious hotels, American tourists and a thousand nightlife activities. No ecotourism or active tourism. But Puerto Vallarta is much more. Possibly active, adventure or rural tourism is in our view the most attractive in the area.

Nicaragua, Masaya volcano

Previously called the inferno gate by the Spaniards, the Masaya volcano is a gigantic crater located a few kilometers south of Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. The Masaya volcano is on the route that goes to Granada, one of the most colonial cities with León in Nicaragua. In the middle of this route, shortly before reaching the city of the same name, Masaya, the entrance to the national park appears, glimpsing a huge volcano in the background under a small cloud with sulfur remains.

Ascension to the Tower. The highest peak in Cádiz

It is the second day of our trip through the Sierra de Grazalema and it is time to make the ascent to the Torreón, a mountain of a very rocky character and that stands proud to have the title of the highest peak in Cádiz. Previously we had made the route of the Pinsapar de Grazalema, a unique place in this region to house one of the two forests that still remain in Europe of pinsapos and now touched a slightly harder route.

Pass'Aran stage 4. Gite Eyle - Araing Shelter

The fourth stage of the Pass'Aran that runs between the Gite Eyle refuge and the Araing refuge is of course the most mining. It passes through a landscape covered with old mines that were abandoned in the middle of the last century, where it is still possible to see remains scattered throughout the landscape ... For the hiker it is a curious route, by the combination of this landscape with the high mountain.

Pyrenees. Snowshoe route in the Aran Valley, Beret

One of the best known routes in the Pyrenees for snowshoe hiking is the one that starts from Beret to Montgarri, a small town hidden between the mountains and inaccessible by road in winter. Apart from this route, two more, somewhat more complicated, depart from Beret, towards the Cap des Closos and the Tuc de Pedescau, two peaks that far exceed 2.

Pass'Aran stage 3. Maison du Valier - Gite Eyle

Bad luck or not, but a rainy day on the way to Gite Eyle can't be that bad. The profile of the stage covers two ascents of just over 800m, a rise and fall to reduce the legs and head. This stage, unlike the previous one, of a long descent, reflects the extremes of this crossing, with one of the most uneven stages of all Pass'Aran.

Pass'Aran stage 2. Estagnous - Maison du Valier

The second stage of Pass'Aran, from the Estagnous refuge to Maison du Valier, is the most atypical of all. It is practically all downhill unless you undertake the ascent in the first hour to Mont Valier, 2,838m high. For those who suffer in the descents is not good news, but those who enjoy the landscape you will discover the low mountain, with forests of beech and hazelnut trees covered with moss and a beautiful old glacier at the beginning of the stage.

Pass'Aran stage 1. From Montgarri to the Estagnous Refuge

Montgarri is the refuge where the circular crossing of Pass'Aran begins. Next to it is a 12th century sanctuary that marks one of the two stages that pass through Catalonia. We would say that the first stage is not the most complex unless you decide to undertake the top of the Tuc de Barlonguera. If you decide to set course on the traditional route, the stage runs from the beginning through a large valley and then slowly climb to levels above 2.
